Tiny Tim
From the very beginning Timmy has been a fighter, he had a rough start to life but with lots of love and care he prospered. Jazz and Yuma are his parents and he was born December 28, 2021. This is his story.
A Rocky Start
Timmy was born with a cleft pallet which made it impossible for him to suckle on mom. Throughout his first day he tried many times to nurse, growing weaker with each passing hour. His tummy didn’t become round as did his siblings’ tummies. We began syringe feeding Timmy, and, thankfully, he took to it greedily. A finger was necessary to cover his cleft and prevent the milk from being expelled through his nose or inhaled.
A Scare
As Timmy’s brother and sisters grew and grew, he fought to keep going. At about four weeks we had a scare, Timmy was struggling to breath and was very upset, so our vet had us bring him in. Upon examination she found he was coming down with pneumonia and prescribed him antibiotics. This made him feel better and his recovery was swift. He always found comfort in his big sister, Honey, who was a sweetheart.
The Daily Routine
-
Feeding & Playtime
The first item of business for Timmy was always food, but once that necessity was out of the way, he just loved to play. He truly adored being tickled, so he would wiggle and squirm on his back until he enticed us into the game.
-
Kitty Collar & Bell
Once Timmy was mobile, we were afraid we’d accidentally step on him. He was so very small we resorted to a pink kitten collar with a small bell. It tinkled as he bounced about our feet, we could hear him, and it kept him from underfoot.
-
Rio The Nanny
Ever-patient and caring, Rio made taking care of Timmy a whole lot easier for us. She was there for Timmy with a wet tongue to groom and a warm side to nestle against. She would also play with him ever so gently unlike his rough and tumble siblings.
Success
Once Timmy began eating solid dry food, he blossomed. He gained weight rapidly and began growing as would a normal puppy.
Six months later when he was ready, Timmy was adopted by a caring family who understood his unique challenges. He had a name change to Whitley, and best of all, he went to live with his half-sister, Lucca.
